  1. Finally seeing caterpillars but very few monarchs. I have been growing sunflowers this year. One flower has been completely picked apart by the goldfinches.

    • Thanks for visiting Cindi! It’s so strange to see the milkweed untouched. But I’m keeping an eye out…thinking it may be important for those monarchs heading back south soon? I always mean to grow sunflowers and have forgotten the past two years. This year I did lots of old fashioned zinnias and the goldfinches just tear them up once they’ve gone to seed – and also the liatris, which is just covered with bees and pollinators when blooming. (And I could share some this fall if you want!)
